Physiotherapy Dublin

Treatments focused on getting you out of pain and keeping you out of pain.

Physiotherapy is assessment and diagnosis of common pain and injuries using a variety of manual therapy, movement assessment and palpation of soft tissues and joints. Our experienced therapists are educated to masters level and have undergone extensive training so we can provide the most comprehensive service to get you out of pain and back to a pain free life.

The physiotherapy industry has advanced a lot in the last number of years. We understand way more about the human body and how pain can influence movement than we did 10 years ago. We are now more educated on how to assess the injury but also look for faults in other places in the body that may have been a contributing to the current injury and or pain.

What to expect

In the initial assessment our therapist will take a detailed history of the current injury and all previous injuries. Very often your current pain/injury can be a result of a previous injury that may have happened 1 year or 12 years ago that was not treated correctly.

After ‘The Chats’ we will put you through a movement assessment to identify potential compensation that may be causing your pain.

Then we will assess the injured areas and also some other areas away from the injured area depending on what we find.

Frequently asked questions

Rest is a key component to recovery but we focus on active rest rather than just avoiding using the injured area. Over resting can actually make your injury worse as you compensate to move to avoid using the injured body part. Over time this compensation becomes normal and you have forgotten what it feels like to move normally without stiffness and without pain.

While massages might reduce your pain in the short term, your pain tends to return as you have not address the reason for your pain so you will be left susceptible to it returning in the future.

Doctors are amazing practitioners with a wide range of skills and knowledge but there are not as specialised in pain and injury as physiotherapists. They won’t be able to advise on exercise or provide manual therapy to resolve your pain so the next option are painkillers. Rule of thumb, if you just want tablets and reassurance go to a doctor.

Physiotherapy treatments are covered by your health insurance and our clinic and therapists are all register with all major insurers in Ireland.
