Pilates is a method of exercise that consists of low-impact flexibility, strength and endurance movements. The classes emphasise proper postural alignment, core strength and muscle balance. Pilates is named for its creator, Joseph Pilates, who developed the exercises in the 1920s.

A Pilates routine generally includes exercises that promote core and pelvic strength and stability, muscle control and endurance. The exercises balance mobility, flexibility and strength while helping to improve posture and alignment.


Pilates is hugely beneficial for both males and females of any age group.

Firstly due to modern culture we spend a lot of time sitting therefore we never get into the extreme ranges that our body is capable of achieving. Over time this leads us to stiffen up.
Pilates can help expose your body to a range of movements that your body like and will help you feel mobile and less stiff.
Pilates has been shown to be helpful for back pain and neck pain. Low back pain affects up to 80% of people. It can affect any age group and commonly reoccurs. Pilates is an important form of exercise to strengthen the stomach and back, strengthen and mobilise the hips and spine, which has been shown to reduce the occurrence of back pain!
This is common with desk based work, can also affect any age and recurrence is common. Pilates and especially physio-led Pilates can help to:

  • Improve posture
  • Improve mobility and strength
  • Reduce the recurrence of these annoying niggles!

As a physiotherapist Sarah sees a lot of people with pain in these areas and is experienced in dealing with this. With Sarah’s experience she is able to integrate her clinical knowledge into the Pilates calls to make them more specific rather than just general movement. With tips and easy to follow cues, this makes the class a thoughtful and insightful journey into learning more about your body’s ability to move.


Sarah has a master’s degree in physiotherapy and an undergraduate degree in health and performance science. Once out in the working world of musculoskeletal physiotherapy, she went on to do her Pilates instructor training to supplement the treatment and rehabilitation for clients but also to teach group classes because Pilates is for EVERYONE!

She is a qualified instructor in mat based, pregnancy and post-natal Pilates. She teaches in a positive and relaxed manner making sure everyone is getting the most out of the class.

Physio-led Pilates is an excellent way to safely strengthen and prevent injuries. Sarah has years of experience in rehabilitating patients in the clinic and also teaching individual and group based classes for all levels. She has a wealth of knowledge of injuries and how the body works making the classes clinical and specific for everyone attending. She knows many progressions and regressions of exercises so that you can exercise at a level that suits your needs and ability.


Sarah is an amazing pilates instructor. Really knows her stuff especially with her physio background. Very informative and makes you feel comfortable doing the classes! Would definitely recommend


Feeling great after doing Sarah’s Pilates classes! Her style is enthusiastic and very professional. She gave reminders throughout the class on how to get the most out of each pose and constant encouragements to keep us all engaged. These classes are a lovely addition to my week and I would highly recommend her to anyone.


Have really been struggling with my hips after starting to run. Sarah’s classes have really helped support my hips and loosen them, reducing pain in the process!!! Definitely recommend it! Think the classes are the only things helping my hips at the moment!

I have been doing Sarah’s Pilates for 12 weeks now and have noticed a huge difference in myself. I suffer with constant neck, back and hip pain but since doing the classes I am pain free. The classes are for mixed levels but most attending are adapted to suit everyone as most currently attending are beginners.

The class numbers are restricted to 6-8 people to endure social distancing and individualised attention on your technique in the class. All equipment including mats is provided, mats are spaced out 2 meters apart and equipment is cleaned after every use. All you need to bring is water and a towel. We also ask that you wear a mask as you go in and out of the hall. Please see COVID guidelines below for more info:


We ask that all of our clients follow the guidelines set out here by the HSE:

  • Please DO NOT ATTEND, and let us know if you are displaying potential symptoms of COVID-19 or have been in contact with a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19.

  • We ask if possible that clients shower just prior to attending the class and wear a fresh set of clothes to prevent spread.

  • We ask that you wear a face covering when entering and leaving the class and building. All mats will be spaced two meters apart so if you need to take the covering off once you have arrived on your mat, for or during the class that is at your own discretion.

  • If you have an underlying medical condition or are a healthcare worker please highlight this.

  • We ask that you use hand sanitiser on entering the building.

  • Mats will be spaced out so everyone has their own area. We ask that you enter the room maintaining social distance, go to a mat and remain there for the duration of the class.

  • All equipment will be provided for the class to ensure distancing. Therefore, following the class Sarah will provide cleaning equipment, we would appreciate it if you could wipe your mat and equipment before leaving.
